About

It's hard to pin down when I first became a writer.

Maybe it was when I was six and made tiny books of stapled, uneven squares of paper about what my cat, Oreo, did when I wasn’t home. Or when I was ten and assigned to write a story about a cat running around Bermuda, the island where I grew up, and my story was multiple pages longer than anyone else’s. Or when I started my first book at age twelve about a cat who lived in London and needed to save the world (if you couldn’t tell, I’m obsessed with cats). All I know is I started writing at some point and I’ve been writing ever since.

I attended Northwestern University, where I studied data science (my day career!) and history. I live in Chicago and spend my weekends with a Starbucks pumpkin chai on my desk as I work on my next novel.

I’m currently represented by Ritu Anand of D4EO Literary.

In the turbulent final century of the ancient Roman Republic, the era when Julius Caesar led his armies and Cleopatra schemed for power, Clodia Metelli is born with a fire raging inside her. She wants to follow her brothers down the path of political power, but she can’t. She wants to save her young sister from succumbing to her failing body – but she can’t. Her father sees her grief as weakness and makes 8-year-old Clodia a deal: he’ll give her a man’s education only if she never mentions her sister again. Clodia accepts. By the time she’s forced into marriage at age sixteen, she’s as cold and manipulative as her father – almost. Except she loves her youngest brother, with his wild hair and even wilder ideas. And her heart skips a beat when she meets her maid’s blue eyes.

When her brother’s fiery temper lands him in political hot water, he and Clodia form a covert alliance. Their partnership sustains them through conspiracies and scandals that catapult them to the top of Rome’s social circles. Behind her husband’s back, Clodia and her maid start an affair that she can’t admit is love.

Then Clodia has a daughter who looks exactly like the sister she lost. And her brother plunges them into a scandal from which she cannot save him. Furious at her brother and overwhelmed with grief she’d never let herself feel, Clodia travels a dark path to the most dangerous parts of Rome and the men who lurk there and must decide whether power and influence are worth their steep price.
